I have taken pictures of some projects but not all because frankly taking pretty pictures for blogging is not easy for me -- too much darn work, so I will include pictures of those projects I still have around.
These cards are from the Inspirational Quote Deck Swap over at Jessica's blog.
Our instructions were to alter a deck of playing cards or to create one from scratch. I chose to alter some old cards (because I have stacks of these and I thought it would be easier).
There are tutorials on the site for how to make this an easier job but i happened on these much too late.
For me it was an arduous process and I created a royal mess:
Halfway through I was wondering what I had gotten myself into as it really takes a long time to make fifty two art cards and I covered the backs too with old book pages.
If I were to do this again I would follow the tutorial on the site that suggested ironing the cards onto freezer paper. By the time I found that tutorial I had already gessoed and painted my cards and it just didn't work. My cards ended up bubbling. Rather than start over I just went with the bubbling and stenciled them with texture medium.
I also tried printing quotes on tracing paper -- another tip from the tutorials.
I ironed the tracing paper to freezer paper and ran it through my printer. The one word quotes are when I got too tired and decided to make my life easier:
Would I join this swap again? Definitely but would probably give myself more time to work on them next time and I would definitely check out the tutorials first before I began.
The other thing I worked on was this wreath:
This is definitely one for the pink loving ladies :)
I used vintage millinery flowers and silk leaves from Japan, satin ribbon to wrap a wreath form, a little lady figurine, an old vintage earring, a chandelier crystal dangling from the bow at the base and a little spun cotton bird (might be a little hard to see).
I think I will be making more of these.
I will post pictures of the deck I receive when it arrives.
Have a wonderful day with lots of Vintage style.
